Wine and Place

Christian and Amy long dreamed of owning a vineyard. Having spent many decades traveling the world, they considered Sonoma a place to do just that. It was the first place they explored together, and they knew it was the place that they wanted to return to one day. The community has a vibe that is supremely friendly, unabashedly casual, and utterly relaxed. The food is vibrant and fresh, sourced locally and grown by generations of farmers. The winemakers are passionate but humble and never too busy to lend a hand. And now, after so many years, they are sharing their dream of this extraordinary place with you.

Happy Accident

For many years, the vineyard produced fruit for very well-known winemakers, and 2025 should have been no different. As the perfectly formed purple clusters ripened during an amazing growing season, they were stunned that no buyer for the fruit stepped forward. September rains were on the way, and a decision had to be made. After a lot of thought (and wine), they believed that the best way to honor the vineyard was to make a wine, but not just any wine. They needed to entrust their carefully grown grapes to people who could create a wine that expressed the beauty of the vineyard and exactly what they liked to drink. They called their friends, Scott Schultz and Jenny Schultz, and the first vintage was born.

Wildflowers

The label is an expression of the vibrant colors of spring in the vineyard and the beautiful bouquet of the wine. An oasis filled with wildflowers, rays of golden sun, vines with emerald green leaves, and a rich blue sky. When the sun goes down, the sky turns to a dark canvas showcasing the shimmering stars and glowing moon across the evening sky. If you look closely, you will see those stars shining on the label. It was created by our cousin, Sylvia, who spent many days in the vineyard with the Tre Ombres.

Tre Ombres

When searching for a name that represents the mystery of the vines planted and expresses the happiness one feels when watching the golden sun set behind the mountain, the name Tre Ombres or Three Shadows quickly came to mind. The Italian words give a nod to the heritage of the historic vineyard and it also gives proper thanks to the three loyal caretakers of the property that merrily run around the vines. These Ombres may each have four paws, sharp claws and deep growls but they are loyal to the vineyard and keep a sharp eye out for the ravens and deer that like to snack on the delicious grapes. When they find time to break from stamping every bottle with their paws of approval, they find opportunities to play with the long-eared rabbits and blue-bellied lizards and gladly accept belly rubs.

Christian and Amy created the vision for Tre Ombres and are delighted to bring this beautiful vintage to you.
